Calculate your BMI. Understand the result.
Estimate adult body mass index in US or metric units, review the screening category and see the BMI-defined weight range for your height. For adults age 20 and older.
Your result
A screening measure based on weight and height.
- 18.5
- 25
- 30
- Screening category
- Healthy weight
- BMI-defined healthy weight range
- 126 to 169 lb
Categories use unrounded BMI. Near a cutoff, extra decimals or a < (less than) sign preserve that distinction. The weight range is rounded inward and is not a personal target.
BMI is a screening measure, not a diagnosis. It does not distinguish between fat, muscle and bone mass. Consider this result with your medical history and other clinical measures.
Adult BMI categories
Ranges for adults age 20 and older. Cutoffs apply to unrounded BMI.
How to interpret the result
BMI divides weight in kilograms by height in meters squared. It screens weight relative to height, but does not directly measure body fat or its distribution.
Talk with a health care professional if you have questions about your result, significant weight changes, pregnancy, a medical condition or an athletic body composition. People under 20 need age- and sex-specific BMI references.
